Help us create a cohousing community.

RSF_flowersThe River School Farm is exploring the creation of a cohousing community right here on our beautiful riverside property. What is cohousing? Cohousing is a type of intentional and collaborative housing in which residents actively participate in the design and operation of their physical space. Cohousing residents consciously commit to living as a community, yet all residents maintain their own private homes, which contain all the features of conventional home. Additionally, residents have access to extensive common facilities such as open space, gardens, and a common house.

If you are interested in learning more about cohousing and joining our cohousing community please contact us. We will be hosting periodic cohousing events to introduce ourselves to other community members and to plan the community building process. Please join us!

For more information about the project please contact Tom at (775) 690-4261 or tom@riverschoolfarm.org

Dancing River Community
is based on permaculture principals and biodynamic practices. Our intentional community is composed of 14 home sites located on more than an acre of land along the Truckee river. Our common grounds consist of meadows, fruit trees, grape vines, edible and nectar producing flowers, culinary and medicinal herbs, and vegetable garden plots. Our common house includes a dance/yoga studio, guest room, bath room with shower, entertainment and meeting room as well as shaded out door patio spaces and summer outdoor food preparation area.

Housing units are small one bedroom, partially solar powered townhouses. Two live-work duplexes are in the planning stages. A four-unit townhouse is in the building permit stage and will be available for sale soon. The River School Farm manages the common area and landscape. Tom Stille developed the garden areas over the past 24 years, in recent years with the help of his wife Iris Stille.

If interested, plan to attend our monthly community potluck on the first Wednesday of each month starting at 6:00 PM in the common house. We hope to see you soon.

Please email Iris at iris@riverschoolfarm.org if you would like to be added to the housing mailing list.
